There are majorly three systems of scoring. The test takes its name from that of its creator, Swiss psychologist Hermann Rorschach. The Rorschach inkblot test is a psychological projective test of personality in which a subjects interpretations of ten standard abstract designs are analyzed as a measure of emotional and intellectual functioning and integration. It has been employed to detect an underlying thought disorder, especially in cases where patients are reluctant to describe their thinking processes openly. Some psychologists use this test to examine a person’s personality characteristics and emotional functioning. The test consists of ten images, apparently random. Subjects’ perceptions of inkblots are recorded and then analyzed using psychological interpretation, complex scientifically derived algorithms, or both.
